What is Shatter?

Shatter is one of the many varieties of Cannabis Concentrate. Above all, it is by far and away the most appropriately named. Shatter has a brittle, glass-like consistency. For instance, extractors pour and set Shatter just like stained glass during the extraction process. It can range from light amber to dark oily green in appearance. Be sure to be extra careful when handling Shatter. Just like glass, it will break very easily.

From appearance alone, all Shatter can look the same. However, there is a subtle variation in textures, some being more brittle, while others have a dried taffy consistency. As a result, this variation can help determine the Cannabinoids present in the final product.

Shatter that contains a higher THC count will usually have a thinner consistency and be less brittle. At room temperature, THC is a liquid-like oil, while THCA remains brittle. Concentrates with a much more fragile consistency are commonly higher in THCA, making them easier to break up.
